What Needs to be Done

I'm reading Nadine Gordimer's new book, and my initial response was that she's lost her clarity, but on reflection I think she has merely reached a point where she can see her life in proper perspective. It can't be easy losing friends like Susan Sontag, Anthony Sampson and Edward Said. Soon enough she will have to add to that list of comrades Nelson Mandela.

Thoughtful readers are fortunate to have guides like Gordimer to point the way. Other writers are blessed by her example. Humanitarians are encouraged to do what needs to be done.

Seanchai

I'm a storyteller. That's all.

That's all? How can you say, 'That's all'? Who else is going to create our memory?
